Equality and Diversity

Whatever your situation, undertaking equality and diversity training is a great way to understand more about the meaning and importance of equality and diversity, the impact of prejudice and discrimination and employer and individual rights and responsibilities.

Course Content

Each unit has a credit value. You will need to achieve 13 credit values for a Level 2 Certificate in Equality and Diversity (QCF). The three available units and their individual credit values are summarised below:

  • Unit 1:  Exploring Equality & Diversity (8 credits)

  • What equality means

  • The ways people might choose to describe themselves

  • What diversity means

  • Stereotyping and labelling

  • Prejudice and discrimination.

  • Unit 2: Working or Learning in a Place that Promotes Diversity (optional) (5 credits)

  • How workplaces can have processes in place to protect, maintain and monitor equality and diversity

  • The value to the workplace in creating and maintaining a diverse environment

  • What can be done to overcome bad practice in the workplace?

  • The consequences for an organisation of not trying to create and maintain a diverse and equal environment.

  • Unit 3:  Living in Diverse Communities (optional) (5 credits)

  • Understand equality and diversity in your own community

  • Investigate and discover the nature of the diversity around you

  • How diversity enriches community life

  • Explore the threats that exist to equality and diversity.
